Vienna Night Run
The city of Vienna closes the famous Ringstrasse for this 5-km fun-run that takes place in the evening. Last year over 19,000 runners finished, with all procedes going to suport a charity for curing blindness in the most impoverished regions of the world. Wiener Wiesn-Fest (Oktoberfest!)
Vienna's answer to the Oktoberfest, the Wiener Wiesn Festival pitches its tents on the Kaiserwiese in the Prater for the fourth time in 2015. Austrian beer, local food, all sorts of music and traditional outfits ensure a great atmosphere. Entrance is free during the day, but tables must be reserved in advance for the evening. Long Night of Museums
Of course, don't forget that this is the evening of the official Welcome Reception! But if you are still full of energy after that you could join the 16th annual "Long Night of Museums". On October 3rd (**preliminary date may change**) from 6 pm to 1 am, 700 museums, galleries and cultural institutions offer special guided tours, artists’ talks, lectures, music, dance, varied children’s programmes and much more. One ticket gets you entrance into all the locations and special buses ferry you around town. Click here for more information.
Classical Music Concerts & Opera
Classical Concerts in the St. Charles Church (Karlskirche)
On these evenings at 8:15pm classical concerts are held in the St. Charles Church. Tickets must be purchased in advance here. There are three concerts: Thursday 1 & 8 October "Ave Maria", Friday 2 & 9 October "Vivaldi - The Four Seasons" and Saturday 3 & 10 October "Mozart Requiem". (Don't forget that the Welcome Reception takes place on the evening of the 3 October!)
Vienna State Opera
The programme for the Vienna State opera for October 2015 is not yet available, but we have been advised that is will be posted here in April 2015 and you can purchase tickets via the website.
Vienna Mozart Concerts
This clasical music concert takes place in the splendid buildings of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchester, the Vienna State Opera, or the Konzerthaus on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. You can book your tickets through our conference organising company Austropa, who have kindly reserved tickets for Colloquium attendees!
